Once you’ve had your fill Of the frames we build to outgrow, (I can’t follow) The future is certain, It’s such a burden to know But it won’t always be Can’t discern the difference Assumption & inference You don’t know how to feel, I’ll tell you how to feel I just want to tell you I don’t want to tell you anything But I always tell you everything Such heavy love Do you hold it over me this time? Is that enough? Because it might be enough to ease my mind Such heavy love Was never meant to need my life And has it still, and always will be steps behind It’s alright That sense of wonder is such a comfort to doubt But it won’t always be Can’t discern the difference Assumption & inference You don’t know how to feel, I’ll tell you how to feel I don’t want to feel you pity me But I always tell you everything Such heavy love Do you hold it over me this time? Is that enough? Because it might be enough to ease my mind Such heavy love Was never meant to need my life And has it still, and always will be steps behind It’s alright All my life All my time Is it yours if it isn’t mine? Such heavy love Do you hold it over me this time? Is that enough? Because it might be enough to ease my mind Such heavy love Was never meant to need my life And has it still, and always will be steps behind It’s alright

Screams from out of the black now Hear the sound of the tracks now Tomorrow’s always a blank page It’s bearing down like a freight train all night Can you feel it coming down the line? Moves a little closer all the time Smokestack shrieking its power Rising steam from the shower All you wanted was more time Soon the sun is in your eyes, so bright Westbound train is tired but nearly home Eastbound train has tracks carved out of stone Eastbound train is never coming back (And every sound reminds me) Westbound train just jumped right off the tracks (I left that all behind me) Sun comes up, it’s transcendent It’s heading west with a vengeance Hands at work till your work’s done Must mean something to someone, sometimes Always disappearing over time Tracks you follow, tracks you leave behind Eastbound train is never coming back (And every sound reminds me) Westbound train just jumped right off the tracks (I left that all behind me) Eastbound wind starts howling at your door (Train makes the same reply) “You can drive all night, but you can’t outrun the storm Time to wake up, it’s morning” Screams from out of the black now I hear the sound of the tracks now Blink and tomorrow just storms in Time to wake up, it’s morning

Air Quotes 04:15
Call it misapprehension That I can’t pick your face out of the crowd Don’t pay much attention But I can hear the music fading out It’s eating half of my brain, I lost a ton of focus Picked up my inauspicious face and figured no one noticed I barely needed some space, got more than I could cope with Determined this was not a place someone should be alone in It’ll build you up to put you down so hard to leave that old gray town With that tiny tragedian that’s dragging you around I know that it’s hard to believe I just think you’re trying to see Air quotes around everything (I can see the grass right through your feet) I chose what is coming to me I’m just taking it personally Cause I know what you’re trying to say So you didn’t have to say it to me You’re a natural flyer Nothing pulls your head out of the clouds I’m a bird on a wire That’s paralyzed from staring at the ground It’s eating half of my brain, there must be something wrong here Can’t find a single reason why I thought I should have come here This burden’s bleeding me out, it’s like my will is gone here The fact that this is where I am does not mean I belong here It’ll build you up to put you down so hard to leave that old gray town With that tiny tragedian that’s dragging you around I know that it’s hard to believe I just think you’re trying to see Air quotes around everything (I can see the grass right through your feet) I chose what is coming to me I’m just taking it personally Cause I know what you’re trying to say So you didn’t have to say it to me That tiny voice is screaming You should be alone You want to be alone Nobody deserves the love you’ve shown That tiny voice is screaming Lock yourself at home Draw the blinds, turn off your phone You’re never at a loss when you’re on your own We’re so much better off when you’re on your own I know that it’s hard to believe I just think you’re trying to see Air quotes around everything (I can see the grass right through your feet) I chose what is coming to me I’m just taking it personally Cause I know what you’re trying to say So you didn’t have to say it to me

Last night I had the strangest sleep. I dreamt that I would never awake for anything. Woke up in the midst of a deep and cleansing laughter; was up all night after. The better portions of my lungs and my conscience are why I sing. The way the sun rises in the east. The way the second summer is always twice as sweet. The dream of birds, and of falling snow. The uncertain nature of infallible strength. I've planted seeds to grow; to rise up through the thunder and the snow. If Leonard Cohen wore a mask, a face to hide his face to hide his shame, what hope have I to ever do the same? As if this meal would ever end. As if each progression progressed naturally. After 13 years I'm right back where I started from. As if it wasn't hard enough to speak. If Leonard Cohen wore a mask, a face to hide his face to hide his shame, what hope have I to ever do the same? In time we'll realize exactly who can count on me, when all these self-indulgent fantasies come true. I'll be laughing behind the mask they made for me at the past I can't escape, as tears roll down the face I show to you.

Your fingers Get frantic You’re waxing sycophantic Sounding alarm bells And misquoting Orwell When did your heads get twisted? Tears shed for every threat to your disbelief You spoke for all existence None wept for the death of expertise I hear you scream “Last year’s just an artifact What’s gone and what’s coming back?” Sift through all the aftermath What’s gone and what’s coming back? Truth not built To last now Your future’s in the past now Facilitate friction Sedition from fiction When did your heads get twisted? Amnesia history, till it comes round again You spoke for all existence Society is out to sea, best not learn how to swim As the water starts pouring in I hear you scream “Last year’s just an artifact What’s gone and what’s coming back?” Sift through all the aftermath What’s gone and what’s coming back? Everyone you’ve ever known is dead They’re just playing alive instead The answer’s buried in your head somewhere (But you wont find it) Everybody loses in the end We just want to make peace till then You’re pointing guns right at our heads, it’s fine Must be in our minds, then Not built to last Not coming back (Never paid the price never broke the mold always dumping out your heavy hollow soul Never break your stride never crack a smile always face the world defiant as a child)

Please show me you can hear me Are the words stuck in my throat? Speak Do you really see me? I can’t believe Your home could be so lonely But no one gets too close See? You don’t need to know me To know you’d spend a lifetime waking ghosts Please I know you don’t believe me Or love anyone else Speak Do you really see me A sad reflection of yourself? I can’t pretend that I don’t know how it feels To be so spun around that you can’t tell what’s real But I don’t know how to turn this ship around (Know you don’t believe or see me Spend your lifetime waking ghosts) Just shadows in the cave The only thing you’re not afraid of (The only thing you feel for me’s Disdain disguised as apathy It‘s all I see on your face) This becomes your whole identity You think this thing is such a part of me Tried to forget the fact you can’t conceive of empathy Even the threat of future centuries Can’t make you live in fear Even if it means a thousand years Of shadows in the cave The only thing you’re not afraid of (The only thing you feel for me’s Disdain disguised as apathy It‘s all I see on your face) Your funhouse mirror mind distorts my reflection Weathervane, hurricane, wind from all directions Just shadows in the cave The only thing you’re not afraid of (The only thing you feel for me’s Disdain disguised as apathy It‘s all I see on your face)
